Just a note to tell how pleased I am with your product. We went on an afternoon ride yesterday of about 80 miles and the diffrence in the stock spring and the one you sent is like daylight and dark.
It is by far, one of the best modifications done to the bike in the three years that I've ridden it! It's honestly like riding a different motorcycle!
I can assure you that I will be an advocate for your product in the area where I live and the ISRA forum. I have a friend who has a road star who was very, very impressed and will be contacting you shortly for his own. I would also like to thank you personally for your attention to my order and getting it to me in the quick manner that you did. Again thanks! |

I'm 6'7" and 275lbs and I can ride with no problems about bottoming out. With the girlfriend on back, smooth sailing.
It was very easy to install. I removed the two bolts (did not follow the normal process)holding the shocks and replaced the spring. Less than an hour.
Better than spending $500.00 to $800.00 on a new shock. |

Bought it over the net. Received it within 14 days. Very happy with the service provided by nopork.
Fitted it to the bike during the week and went for a run with a group of other V* riders on a section of road I have heard about but never ridden. Bike stuck through the corners like chewy on a blanket! Even 2 up with the cook on the back, don't seem to bottom out the frame as much.
Very happy with the spring. I'll recommend nopork to all my cruiser mates down here in Oz.

Wow, what a difference. Lost the sponginess and now the bike just glides over the bumps. My usual passenger raved about the difference in the ride. Of course, he (my son) got it for me for father's day so he had an ulterior motive for this gift...
I would highly recommend this spring to anyone with a vstar 1100, whether you do a lot of 2 up riding or have your bike lowered.

Just installed the new spring on Vstar1100 Classic and it made a world of difference. I have my bike lowered 2 1/4" and now I don't bottom out, the bike doesn't wallow in grooves and corduroy in construction areas. I feel that the steering is also more responsive.
This was a smart move.
Thanks guys. |

Had the local Yamaha shop install the spring for $68.00. The change was immediate, no more going into a curve and having that feeling of rearend hop. In my opinion it did make the ride a little stiffer, but nothing to complain about. The biggest difference was when riding with a passenger, the ride is smooth like your riding solo and no more bottoming out!! I highly recommend this product if you don't like the ride of your Roadstar's stock suspension. |

hello no pork fans,
I recently purchased the Eibach 1000lb Springs for my Yamaha V-Star 650 based on the user reviews for ease of installation. Once I started looking at the project it looks like more than just a simple bolt off, bolt on installation. In fact, I took it to my local cycle shop and it is quite a project to get the whole assemble out and swap the spring.
Anyway, I am now in possession of a new spring and a daunting installation bill if I choose to proceed. I'd love to get some more specifics on how those of you who did this as a self install accomplished it with such ease and in short order.
Thanks.

A follow up post to my installation question. I successfully installed the spring in my 1998 650 V-Star classic but now with out a bit of frustration and questions. As it turns out this spring is not on any list that Eibach has for my Yamaha and I could not get anyone at Eibach to tell me this spring would work. Only the anecdotal remarks from others and No Pork indicate it will work. Next is that there is no documentation with the spring to guide anyone in installation. I had a number of bike shops decline to install the spring without the docs. After I searched the Internet a bit I found the service manual for my bike and was able to:
Using a motorcycle lift, raise the bike to remove weight from the rear wheel. Remove the seat Remove the rear wheel cover by removing 4 metric hex screws, two from each side. Be careful not to tear the taillight wiring harness as you lift off the wheel cover. There is a quick disconnect so you can set this part aside. Remove the two retaining bolts from the top and bottom of the shock/spring assembly. This will require two 17mm wrenches or sockets. Carefully work the assembly out of the chassis cavity by pressing down slightly on the back wheel to create more space for extraction of the shock/spring assembly. Don't knock over your bike! :-)
With this out I started looking for a business that had a spring compressor small enough to do the job. You cannot take this just anywhere. Many machine shops have spring compressors for automobiles but that will not work on this unit. A lot of Motorcycle dealers seemed to be very wary of liability issues and did not want to touch the job. Finally, I took it to a friendly Yamaha dealer who changed the spring for me on the spot in 20 minutes. Cost: $35. They did note that this spring is slightly larger in diameter than the original. This is due to the fact that according to Eibach, this spring is really for an automobile and is in US measurements of 2.25 inches rather than a metric size that Yamaha would use. The mechanic noted that the retaining flanges did still seem to seat with enough surface area on the spring to lock down safely. I then re-installed the new spring assembly in the bike in about 30 minutes reversing the procedure and went off for a test drive. Seems better and time will tell when I hit the road on my favorite two laners.

I took my bike to a shop to have them install my spring and after a week they called me back and said they were "unable" to install it-even after ordering a tool so they could do the job! I put the bike on my lift, removed the 2 10mm bolts holding the rear horn, removed the 17mm nut on the lower shock link, remove the 17mm nut on the top link, slid the assembly out-piece of cake. I then removed the dogbone brackets off the shock and took it to a vw/buggy shop. The guy took my shock and new spring, came back in about 5 minutes and said here you go, no charge! He said he had a strut compressor, like a caged unit. He said all he had to do was compress the spring about a 1/4 of an inch to expose the clip on the shock body and that was it. Took it home and had my bike together in about 15 minutes. This spring is awesome! I took the bike out for a ride and it was much smoother and better handling than the stock spring-very impressed and I highly recommend this spring. I went over a cattle guard that I normally need to lift my but off the seat and with this spring i sat and could hardly even feel the bump. Two thumbs up!! |
