Scroll down for Honda Insallation IMPORTANT Due to variances in bike manufacturers, assembly, models, control box housings, etc., the Clever Lever Cruise Control may need some special assistance for installation, but not always as most are installed the first time out without extra assistance. When we say the Clever Lever "can" fit all bikes, it can. However, due to these variances, sometimes adjustments must be made to accommodate the large selection of bikes we are working with at this time. The ideal space needed between the grip and the control box housing is 1/8". However, two thin washers are provided for larger spaces up to 7/16". For those with larger spaces, who are handyman types, grips can be removed and reglued with your choice of adhesive for a better fit. Most people install the Clever Lever the first time in 15 to 20 minutes. Others have a bit of a challenge when their grips are not properly installed in the first place. The Clever Lever Cruise Control will work with the Kuryakyn ISOs, as long as the manufacturer pre-installed them properly. The inner black/charcoal ring needs to be absolutely flush or inside of the outer chrome ring, otherwise, the Clever Lever will not be able to fully engage in between just the chrome outer ring and the housing, which will prevent it from staying put. If the gap between the grip and the housing is more than 1/8", we can provide two small washers to help tighten the fit. You may have to remove your grip if the space is too large. The inner plastic sleeve will have to be removed and trimmed (at the extreme right end), which will allow the grip to be installed closer to the housing. Quality control seems to be lacking with KA grips in this area. Victory: 1/8" to 1/4" will need to be shaved off the bottom plate that sticks out at the bottom and side of the control box housing, facing the grip. The rest of the installation is standard.
Please ask questions BEFORE drilling the hole in Step 3! GRIPS - BOLT - LEVER (extra washer if needed) - HOUSING - O-RING - NUT Important: "CLCC" Stamped on the Lever, goes Out! 1. With scissors, cut out template by trimming around black borders. Align template edges with straight edges to the back half of control unit and tape in place. (Mind your Ma and don't run with those scissors.) 2. Mark hole only and disassemble control unit. Check for clearance of bolt and adjust mark for hole if necessary. If an adjustment is necessary, check to make sure the Clever Lever will engage in that new position.
3. Drill out mark using a ¼" or 6mm drill bit. Clean out,
start putting bolt through hole, slip on O-ring between housing and nut.
Hold nut using needle nose pliers and a 4mm Allen wrench (you
might need to use a screw driver to wedge for final tension).
Tighten nut so that lever moves with some resistance and will not fall
freely. It does not have to be very tight to work. If an extra washer is needed, it is designed to fit tightly for extra tension. 4. Reassemble the control unit.

IMPORTANT Drill or Power Screw Driver Phillips Head Driver INSTALLATION Please read all instructions through first. If you have any questions contact us. Looking at the back of your bike's control box housing, place the Clever Lever Cruise Control bracket even with the left hand edge of the housing. The section where the two screws go will be on the flat portion of the back of the housing. The bottom of the bracket will be even with the square part of the housing. Carefully hold bracket in place and mark one hole. Use the screw with the larger head (self-tapping screw) to drill the marked hole. Remove screw with large head. Line up bracket and install flat headed screw. Make sure bracket is in alignment and drill second hole with self-tapping screw (large head screw). Remove self-tapping screw and install flat headed screw. |
